Welcome!  Feel free to browse and learn more about a great model organism called C.elegans (a.k.a. the worm).  The worm has proven to be very useful for developmental and genetic studies because it is easy to grow, it is small enough for characterization of every individual cell in the organism (@1000 total cells) and we can manipulate them by safely creating mutants or by adding modified genes.

Since worms have many genes that are similar to humans, they are a useful tool for us to study fundamental biological processes and diseases, such as development of the nervous system and genetic causes of neurodegenerative diseases.  Please visit our Research Interests page for more information.
